Snakeoil Gear Isolation Beta Series

Having some trouble here.... Alpha3 on Ubuntu server 18.04 loads myMPD but fails to load album artwork search and returns an error "Albumcache not ready"
Alpha3 on Ubuntu server 20.04 fails to open myMpd and returns an error "Can not parse settings"

Anyone having similar problems ? solution ?

Had same problem with 20.04, reported earlier. Did not try 18.04, heard that it does not sound as good.

  Solution hopefully in Alpha 4...

Thanks ! I'm a little late to the Gear Isolation party having been occupied elsewhere.

I tried using the myMPD auto-config with no luck and then tried an updated myMPD repo also and that added a library...liblua5.3-0:amd64.. though no change .
I tried installing/ reinstalling mpd and that (reported as not installed ?!?)  then installed but nothing improved.

Alpha 4 it is then :-)

I might try 16.04 sever base and see if the latest myMPD works there (On 18.04 it did look delicious and mostly worked :-)  ..)

hmm tried Ubuntu 20.10  seg-faults and core-dumps repeatedly.... there I tested it for you all :-)  don't try this at home....
Next 16.04.xxx  :-)
404 not found :-(

awaiting magic and the wonderous  20.04 with myMPD 6.1.13

Cheers all,
Bob

In the midst of changing ISP (Going fixed wireless Internet).  The 404 could be due to that. Hang on while I try to figure out how to get this fixed.. :D

Have to say that 18.04 is vastly superior to another well respected MPD distro I am currently listening to.
Should 20.04 prove insoluble then, despite its MPD library faults, I would happily live with 18.04. :-)

Is MPD crashing, or something else on 20.04? Can you guys briefly describe some steps to re-produce that?

Also, if mympd isn't working, can you guys SSH to the machine, and C&P the output of this command?
Code:
ldd /usr/local/bin/mympd

Code:
ldd /usr/local/bin/mympd
from the currently running 16.04 that 404's

Code:
ldd: /usr/local/bin/mympd: No such file or directory
as perhaps expected... Wink
I will reload 20.04 and report, perhaps tomorrow morning. reloading now !!

Blast and bother...the 16.04 install dealt to the uefi  settings and it has taken some time to finally reload and have the drive recognised.

So, for Alph3 on Ubuntu server 20.04 (where myMPD will not start) we get...

Code:
ldd /usr/local/bin/mympd
    not a dynamic executable

Looks like a big hint there Smile   ....need more dynamite !... ROFL

Steps to repro... select any mpd version and save then click on myMPD as player and you are taken to a new tab that says..
Quote:Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at (snakeoil ip here):8080.
From terminal..

Code:
blunder@snake1:~$ mympd

Ha... If I start myMPD from the terminal then go back to the Snakeoil webpage and try to start myMPD there it works :-)

Interesting.. Where did mympd for you guys go in 20.04? I'm going to try and install 20.04 on a physical machine now and see what I get (Hopefully straight after the forums). Been busy past few days getting my Internet sorted (and the subsequent cleaning up).. Hopefully can get this sorted out ASAP.

Pi edition will have to be pushed back for now, too bad as I just got a new Pi for this.

I'm on fixed wireless now baby. So much more expensive, but there's nothing I can do thanks to the mess created by Turnbull/Abbott.
