Also please include instructions that default login user name is ubuntu, password ubuntu. Will be prompted to change password, and have to log back in.

Did this twice and both times when I ran the script, it immediately went to the prompt. Script did not run.
I messed up and didn't wait for the autobuild to finish when I posted. Sad It should all be fixed now.

And yes, will probably have more information in the official post and in the wiki too.

Have to use raspi-config to enable SSH access. That's the way Raspberry Foundation decide to do things. Will include more information in the post.

MPD should work well. Or just running Squeezelite with LMS running from another computer.

It's all fixed now. Apologies for the FU. Sad

While it may seem confusing now running different command line for different distributions, official 1.3.0 there will be only one single command to run. And it's always that command to download the latest version.

More information will be in the Wiki... Will need to re-do instructions on OS installation, including a video. Unsure when that'll be available but my focus will still be on getting DSP for 1.3.1...

So far, so good.

I have the RPi 5 with Beta 1 and LMS 8.4.0 on Raspberry Pi OS working. I've been playing music most of this afternoon and it seems stable.

RPis 3 and 4 have not yet benefitted from Beta 1.

There have been some changes  in current pi os for setting up ssh and initial user.  https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/raspber...pril-2022/
I struggled getting ssh and login working till I learned bout this change, and that there was a second page to the pi imager that enabled ssh.Tongue

I will remove this in the official release.

This is a known issue. Will only be fixed in the later versions of Snakeoil. For now just stick to the manual way of updating the kernel from boot.txt

Thanks for raising these issues. Please report more.

Have filed these two issues in gitlab.

They make a lot of changes. I would say it's for the better? The only other change I would like them to do is to set (or prompt) a keyboard map switch. Default UK map do not work for me.

Ooops, I missed it, now working

Early report, both Ubuntu Server 22.0.4 and Buster without desktop (and change to enable SSH), successfully installed. Am going further with Buster, seems like I may be able to install CamillaDSP? Listening tests versus NUC on 1.2.13 to be done after.

Most importantly, it has be simple enough and very clear instructions. The test is whether a beginner can do everything just by following instructions, without having to look at video, wiki etc.

Personally I don't think Snakeoil is at that stage yet, but considering what it was before, it's better, but ultimately still a long way to go yet.

Unfortunately I'm stuck working on my day job as we regressed somewhat over the weekend so can't dedicate more time on Snakeoil. Having said that, plan is still still release 1.3.0 next week some day.
