Thanks a lot, AK.

I've just looked into grub, it's already set to new kernel.  After I run "update-grub", then it's fixed.  So I guess maybe it's about that command.

BTW, the "shutdown" in webui is fine, yet the "reboot" button doesn't work.

Upgraded to 1.4.1 alpha-1. Sound stage has improved a lot. But, unable to play Mp3 files..

So far so good with 1.4.1! Did a fresh install of both Ubuntu and 1.4.1 on a Rpi5 via a spare microSD card and all is working nicely indeed via Squeezelite R2 and LMS, playing files off my local server.

There is an immediately obvious uptick in clarity and sound stage width in my rig, although the strong centre imaging of vocals in some tracks perhaps appears a tad less focused. I need to listen a bit more to be sure - could just be my tired brain. Very impressive overall though!

I should probably play around a bit more and check what works and see if I can break anything. Wink

One discovery - the sample rate isn't showing in the music player "output devices" box. Tried the usual refreshes and whatnot and no luck. Not a biggy but I have found it useful to confirm when I'm playing around with upsampling on LMS via C-3PO.

Otherwise, it's playing beautifully so far this evening!

LMS is working for you? Cool i’ll have to try and do a fresh install instead of upgrading my 1.4.0.

LMS sits on my server (old laptop) and I only have Squeezelite R2 running through Snakeoil, so perhaps my use case is different?

Yup I'm running LMS on a 2nd Pi 5. Anyway have done some investigating, @agent_kith it seems what stops LMS from working is the Ubuntu real time kernel. 1.4.1 runs LMS no issues, but the moment I install & enable the realtime kernel LMS refuses to start.

Ah, I see. My laptop with LMS runs Windows (cough) so I'm not comparing apples with apples.

D'oh... You are right, either update-grub command isn't run or is commented out as I was testing. Have created a ticket to fix that.

Yeah, there's a typo in the reboot API, so this feature isn't working for both Pi and PC. Will be addressed soon.

Will look into this, I already have the sample mp3 file but yet to test it. This is likely to come in 1.4.2 though unfortunately.

[Image: sweating.gif] I commented out that bit of the code as that bit of code looked pretty terrible. Will clean that part of the code out and this will be working again in the next update.

All up I'm really glad this re-write is going well, I only have objective metrics to go on and while that is good, it's making me extremely happy that subjective metrics (the ones I value) are going great too.

There are only 2 or 3 downsides so far with the Qt migration:
  1. The slight lag in displaying the console output when running programs (install, uninstall, updates, etc). There may be a way to speed that up, but other than that, it's worth the 1+ month effort on it. This update modified 413 files, with 32,463 lines added or removed.
  2. From what I can remember back when working on real time applications, i need to allocate all memories at program start. I am not following this principle in Snakeoil. So in theory the way I allocate memory may have some negative (or positive?) effects in audio playback. The idea is to have the option of adding a switch to do one or the other (i.e. pre-allocate everything vs dynamic allocation) and see what happens. That's the medium term goal of the API, and also to continue with the spirit of "designed by us, defined by you". Giving audiophiles the flexibility of - two ways of running API, plus not running the API at all (i.e. disable WebApp)
  3. Qt documentation is really weird in a way. It tells you everything - but you have to read the manual and make sure you do not miss the important bits. E.g. Do not do database operations across threads using the same database object. Little things like that.

I tried the 1.4.1 alpha and lyrion music server won't launch with squeeze lite. It was working fine with 1.4.0. I'm using the amd64 version.
