1.2.2 Alpha 2. Ready for testing.
snakeoil-armv7l-1.2.2.1.fw (Size: 39.41 MB / Downloads: 0)
(SHA1: ad5ff35a9b8848466312b418f1c7581574e3c865)
snakeoil-x86_64-1.2.2.1.fw (Size: 41.4 MB / Downloads: 3)
(SHA1: 96ec7e828401a237946dd39587e594d11e0f9669)
There shouldn't be any issues updating from Alpha 1 to Alpha 2, but if you have issues, rename your download as recover.fw, and copy it to the /media/music folder on your Snakeoil OS PC, reboot the computer and it should work fine from there.
Let me know if there are any problems/issues.

I got up on Ubuntu 16.04 normally. Cyclictest shows 3 times larger values. Writes that MPD 0.22.9 is configured correctly, but there is no sound: it gives an error (red cross). Through MPD 0.22.3 the sound is good.

Can you generate a diagnostics file with 0.22.9 setup, and send it to me? Thanks.
Hopefully from the diagnostics file I can see what the problem is with cyclictest also.

Not sure why, but it took me several tries before I got the update running. As a reminder, top right corner "home" and "question" gives error message.
Definitely prefer the side navigation "tabs".
Dashboard: Music Player box is larger because title on 2 lines.
SnakeOil/Hardware : Process Priority box is too narrow to fit "delete" button
Music Player: Initial impression is better than Alpha 1. Like the idea of flipping between Software and Output devices. Should always default to Basic setup. Not so sure about the Expert Setup and the tick box on right to start player. Maybe have tick box beside each player and leave right box for custom audio output?

My previous post referred to a Dell laptop running Firefox.
Was pleasantly surprised when I used my Samsung phone, Chrome, in portrait mode. The interface now looks better, with some screens not requiring scrolling down a page. I was not a fan of the previous "fat" tablet look, and it felt clunky. You must have put on a lot of effort here and it shows. Thank you...

On new setups, the basic mode is the default. To make things simpler, when upgrading the music config will default to expert. However, user can always flip back to basic, and that choice will be remembered. Right now there are only a few options in basic, eventually I'll add more (e.g. Upmpdcli + MPD, HQPlayer, Roon etc). The good thing is this will be scalable now, and not hardcoded as before.. Note this is not happening for Upmpdcli just yet, it will be in beta 1.

Click on the power/stop button on the player tile. It behaves the same as the tick box. I have added that second tick box because the power/stop isn't that obvious, and having checkboxes in that player tiles looks really ugly (although it is more intuitive). Once the WIki is up to date I will probably remove the checkbox. Thoughts?

I am going to order two cheap Chinese tablets, and set a special Wifi network for my music. Making it easier for folks to use the system. And yes the focus is on tablet mode...
Now I can use this on larger, and also smaller devices (like mobile phones), and in any orientation. Indeed it's a lot of work, but the code is now cleaner, and things seem to run faster ?
Speaking of faster... You guys can try and SSH to your Snakeoil PC, and run the following, this will disable PHP and free up additional resources, might improve latency.
PHP Code: lighttpd-disable-mod fastcgi fastcgi-php && service lighttpd force-reload

Lol...spent ages trying to start players using the start player checkbox in the configuration.... didn't notice the individual tile buttons on first run the individual power/stop buttons on the player tiles are all 'off' so look the same...like a decoration.. and generally clicking on a descriptor rather than a decoration is preferable or at least should have the same effect.
However, using the start checkbox in the config window and saving never worked. Was finally able to start a player after finding the individual tiles power buttons...by using the tried and true 'percussive clicking EVERYTHING !'
Spent far too long trying to add my NAS using CIFS.
Between the caching of Firefox and the caching of Snakeoil it is extremely difficult to completely clear the settings boxes and they auto-populate cached content even after using the reset.. even after reset and restart and re-re-everything.
Using the Blur theme the player status notification is almost unreadable due to the colour...that green just disappears and is a different green to the checkbox green.
Otherwise...stuff working

I've added options to not use version 1 by default (the version with broken security), so it will try to connect with Samba v3 now. Is that the reason why you can't mount windows shares?

Hold down the SHIFT key and press F5. This should force a reload for most browsers.
