Is there a link/reference for that? I can't seem to find this info? I can confirm Ubuntu 20.04 does not boot on my Jetway motherboard.. WTF? Words fail!
Going to investigate and see what is going on with this. :/

This is crazy. It will shutdown properly when I first boot up, but some reason, after playing music, the shutdown is stuck. No idea what is causing it???

I think a process is stuck trying to quit. And the system is hung trying to shut that down. Are you using MPD? I may try to do some magic to stop the players first, then shutdown. And hope that will fix it..
But to do that, I need to run this on a real machine, gotta figure out why it's not working on Atom machines. :/

Yes, using MPD as my main player, but I have also been testing LMS, MinimServer and Upmpdcli on odd occasions.
There is no problem with 16.04 updated to 1.2 Alpha3.

There is no problem with 16.04 updated to 1.2 Alpha3. So it's the underlying OS, or the kernel.. I'll let you know if I can find out what is doing this.

Some comments and questions on installing 1.2 Alpha3 on 16.04/1.1.11 instance. - Mpd 0.21.25 was originally on 1.1.11 instance; was it replaced by the optimally optimised version on 1.2 Alpha3?
- Mpd 0.22.3 not available; can you please make it available in Alpha4
- Are there any new features in Alpha3 or is this more for proving the concept of the new installer?
- Assume that Alpha4 can be applied to instance with Alpha3 and it will override all settings?
- Can backup be improved in Alpha4 so that it also backs up LMS database and settings? One less thing for me to restore manually from Alpha4 onwards.
Understand your motivations in having an installer covering other distros that that are 16.04, 18.04 based. Does it then mean that someone on SnakeOil 16.04 can remain on 16.04 forever? Yes, 16.04 will go off support soon and no longer get security updates. But it is music server/player, so it is not critical to get the latest patches.

It's a yes/no/maybe. Both are optimised, just differently. Basically 1.2.x is built on newer tools, and linked statically (So that it should in theory work everywhere).

So the new 1.2 series will make sure the key players (MPD, and Squeezelite) will continue to work. Not too sure about LMS as I do not control that. And the move to 20.04 allows other people who prefers HQPlayer, JRiver, etc to move ahead.
This still sticks to the Snakeoil philosophies of "Music Your Way. Designed By Us, defined by you". Allowing one to tailor their computer exactly the way that sounds best in their setup.
Also, in other news.. Can confirm it's a kernel issue on 20.04 with the Jetway motherboard. I've recompiled a kernel and that seem to work fine, but then it crashed at the install side of things (I think I borked the CD somehow). The whole idea of 1.2 is so I can do away with spinning new Ubuntu ISOs, that plan didn't work out too well. Will explore other ways to get this working. So stay tuned.

0.22.3 is included in Alpha 3? Do you mean the latest 0.22.4? 0.22.3 was installed by Alpha3 in 20.04, but not in 16.04.

Hmmm. I can't remember, gotta go and check. Maybe I can set this as an option (i.e. whether to keep old settings or not). It is a nice to have, so do not go out of the way to make it happen.

Agree, 16.04 sounds really good. I can confirm that 20.04's sound stage is not as good in Alpha3. Trying HQPlayer (horrible interface!) was one of my motivations to push 1.2 along.

I think that 20.04 will sound when it receives the kernel-rt and DSD patch.
If it is not difficult, tell me how to get the processor to work at the maximum frequency always in 16.04?
I found about 10 ways on the Internet and tried to do it. It doesn't work.
