Snakeoil 1.2.6 Beta 6

More stability fixes, and what not... Will this be the final beta, who knows [Image: embarrassed3.gif] ? Link will expire end of Aug 2022.

Will make this official some time next week if there are no major issues found.

Thanks a lot, AK.  I'll patch the b5 machine with the b6 fw tonight.  Hopefully I'll have time either tomorrow or this Sunday to test the b6 installer on a freshly installed Ubuntu Studio 22.04 LTS.

Sorry, still have many issues with Browse!
  • Unable to copy/replace using any folder (with and without sub folders) with tracks; copy/replace of individual tracks is working
  • large (300+) playlist with dsf files causes multiple error messages when ram is full;  messages took at least ten minutes to stop because process wanted to go through entire playlist and each dsf track is large!
  • playlist with very long path names not copying; my folders are very deep and often tracks have long names
    eg.  this copied: "/media/music/pa/Smooth FM/Classics/16 Westlife - Mandy.flac"
This and all the others failed: "/media/music/pa/Smooth FM/Classics/04 Joe Cocker & Jennifer Warnes - Up Where We Belong.flac"
  • Most of music tracks have proper track names, but occasionally (but not often) have tracks like this.  I normally rename these tracks, but I would not be surprised that many people still have tracks with these names.

  • Ram itself is now showing up in Browse;  currently useful to check whether process is working but do you want to display it?
Would like to have access to log of background process.  It will help me decipher what is happening and report on any error.

After patching the b5 machine with b6 FW, the tag problem still persists.
And strangely, my another b5 machine suddenly also got the same problem.  But, it's working fine last night.

Back to the drawing board it seems.. I'll re-work on this from Friday and over the weekend. Again thanks for helping me test these...

Can you do a database rescan and see if it works then? myMPD should be working, test that first and see if pick up any tags. It should. I just tested on my system and tags are working fine in myMPD.

Some challenges on this one.. Will work on these first, since I am unsure what/where the id3 problems are.. That overflow is a interesting one, it's something I'm not even aware of as I use spaces. Big Grin

As a quick hack I might just replace - and _ with spaces when displaying them. And that should fix it. The underlying filename hasn't changed, so copying etc will still work... Unsure what is wrong with copying folders, it may be broken with the new system I've created.. Will look into all this. Probably not today as I still got a late night meeting..

I've already tried on both machines, but it didn't help.  And tonight I tried again on the b6 fw patched machine, also got no luck.

UPDATE:

Interestingly, after I updated the OS and then reboot the b6 patched Ubuntu Studio 22.04 machine and RESCANNED the database, tag works.

That's great news. One aspect solved, I'll focus on the browse stuffs later tonight and hopefully the weekend and see if I can fix all the issues.

Just a quick update. Been working hard on this, but having only 0.5-2 hrs a day is limiting.

This should be fixed. At least with the use cases I have tried

Will now stop operation on failure. But that is causing some UI issues that I've been spending time to isolate, redesign and fix.

That should work, I thought it's the & that's causing the problem but it works fine. Hopefully with logging we can find out what the issue is.

This has been fixed. I just removed _ and - when displaying so that word wrapping will work. However the underlying filenames remains as is and will copy over properly as such.

I thought it's always there? Maybe I left it on for alpha/beta releases, having the RAM folder visible in browse just makes it quicker/easier for me to look at things without swapping to another windows. Big Grin
