I meant no offence, AK. I hadn't been aware of the difficulties of maintaining the software and how much you're paying for hosting (surely you can save money there if you can find time to move everything (I know, I know)).

It's not really difficulty per se. Just trying to be a bit more prudent money wise. Some of these costs do add up and I'm always trying to make sure my spending don't get more out of hand than it already is.

Maybe having more SO users will help with donations. Maybe they will merely increase the support burden. I don't know.

More users is always better. Getting more people to listen to their music effortlessly is always good Don't really need to donate. For now anyway I'm happy to put in $100-$150 every month for this project. Have grown professionally and increased my skills in all levels since Snakeoil's inception.

The server I'm getting ain't bad to be honest, I'm getting a lot of server and compute hardware for $100 per month. On better known platforms AWS/Azure etc I'll probably be paying closer to $500 per month (probably more). I just don't really want to waste the resources on downloads, prefer to do it on compute.

Yes, it is a compromise, but 1.3.0 system is easier than 1.2.0, and that itself is also easier than 1.1.0 and earlier.

I've tried 23.10, but no go. I'll see if I can find 23.04 - it's not on the RPi Imager AFAICS.

That kind of sucks? 23.10 is supposed to work with Raspberry Pi 5. I'm going to order the Pi 5 only in Jan so it'll be a while before I can get my hands on.. While you can test the Raspberry Pi OS now, to be honest, Ubuntu just feels faster and more responsive (as it should as Ubuntu is streamlined for speeds while Debian is more for generic support)
