I am running Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS with Snake Oil 1.4.0, when I open the Dashboard there is an update message for 1.4.3 in red text on a yellow background. When I use the Update OS command on the System page it does some sort of update but I am still with 1.4.0, rebooting makes no difference. Am I missing something?

For this particular release, you have to manually update using the forum instructions. We are in the midst of a technology change and @ agent_kith will be able to explain why...

(This post was last modified: 25-Apr-2025, 03:43 PM by stereodave.)
From the How to install Guide in the first post: sudo apt update && sudo apt install snakeoil Gives the result "snakeoil is already the latest version (1.4.0)"
Using the Update code in the first post:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade -y
Gives the result "0 upgraded"
Are there some other instructions?

I'm afraid you have to backup the setting of SO in the system Tab.
And then
Code: sudo apt remove snakeoil
sudo apt install snakeoil -y
sudo reboot now
Good Luck and have fun!

Thankyou hkphantomgtr, I have now progressed.
After several applications of the code you listed above it removed Snakeoil but I only got the response "Unable to locate the package snakeoil", causing much grief and angst.
But applying the Running the Installer Script Guide:
wget -qLO - \
https:// install.snakeoil-os.net | sudo sh
it rebooted and it loaded up as 1.4.3

You're welcome, pal. Enjoy.
Btw, how do you find the sound of 1.4.3?
