Hi-Res FLAC playback issue on Squeezelite
#1
Hey guys, I'm currently running the latest 1.2.13.fw firmware on my Raspberry Pi 4B. Everything has been running smoothly so far, except when trying to play hi-res (192k) FLAC files on Squeezelite. Although the progress bar moves, there is no audio output when I click play, and no error logs are generated. Additionally, the Squeezelite web app becomes unresponsive and can only be restored by restarting it.
It's worth noting that playing non-hi-res files, such as 44.1k(even 24bit 96k) FLAC files, works perfectly fine without any issues. This problem seems to be specific to hi-res files only.
I have attempted to resolve the problem by reinstalling using the snakeoil-installer-armv7l-1.2.6.sh script and upgrading to snakeoil-armv7l-1.2.13.fw, but unfortunately, the issue persists.

That's a weird one, and I fear I'm not going to be very helpful here. I have a 24/192 FLAC file playing through an RPi 4 2GB/Allo Boss DAC as I type this. I am running SO 1.3 Beta, and LMS is on a separate RPi 4 8GB, so we're not quite equivalent.

The only time I've had the kind of problem you're describing is when I've been streaming to one of my Sonos speakers, but that's because they only handle up to 24/96 natively, I think.

And, I've had dropout problems with larger files over wifi.

Yea it's so weird I've never met, this file is paid/licensed music from SONY HI-RES music site and I've played it many times on other players.

I'm using SMSL SU8 DAC which supports up to 32/768

Additionally, I also found Squeezelite cannot play WMA, there're some error logs:
'Slim::Player::Song::open (417) Error: Couldn't create command line for WMA playback for [file: xxx].'

I use an SMSL M300 Mk2 DAC fed by an RPi 3 with Allo Digione Signature in my main system, and that plays 24/192 with no problems, as well. The RPi 3 is still on SO 1.2.x.

Do you have LMS and Squeezelite running on that same 2GB RPi 4? I wonder if you might be running out of memory.

The WMA problem may be sorted out by the WMA plugin for LMS.
