I recently upgraded to Snakeoil 1.4 and have 2 main problem with Squeezelite and Lyrion. the set up is on 2 machine server client. server is x86 and client is raspi3. all on latest ubuntu.
Problems:
1. Can only plan few songs in squeezelite before it's stuck and can't be controlled (skip next or queue new songs) the only remedy is to restart lyrion on the server. I also have the same issue with Snakeoil 1.3 server but using Snakeoil 1.4 client. the snakeoil 1.3 has been stable and snakeoil 1.4 also stable serving other OS I tried (roopiexl, moode and wiim ultra) so the problem seems to be in snakeoil 1.4 squeezelite. I have tried squeezelite 1.8, 2.0 and squeezelite V2
2. On lyrion in 1.4 I can't install dlna bridge so I can use mpdcli on the client
There is no log that I can see in lyrion. In 1.3 there used to be log that I can check
Lastly I use hat on the pi 3 with the following config settings. I also 2 hat one dac and one digital out
dtparam=i2s=on
dtparam=audio=off
dtoverlay=hifiberry-dac

Tried Lyrion Music Server Version: 9.0.0 - 1732822968 (fresh install of LMS, have not used it on this box) on another NUC with SO 1.4
CM4 Mercury V2 Streamer with fresh install of Ubuntu 24.04, SO 1.4 and no activation. Tried Squeezelite V2, 1.6, played at least 2 tracks as quick test.
Some more testing suggestions. Are you able to put a fresh copy of Ubuntu 24.04 and SO 1.4 on X86 box? If not, then please detail how you upgraded your X86 box. Is the box dedicated to SO or there are other apps? Did you remove L(ogitech)MS 8.x before upgrading to L(yrion)MS 9?
Also, can you please enable LMS on your Pi4 and use Squeezelite on your Pi3.
My latest guess is that LMS is the issue here, rather than Squeezlite on Pi3.

Initially I tried to do ubuntu upgrade on my x86 box but ended up with kernel panic. So I scrap the whole drive and reinstall ubuntu server 24.04 and install SO1.4 then I install lyrion (instead of LMS). Also yeah this box is just SO1.4 only.
Will need to get some new sd card to try to run pi4 and pi3 on SO1.4 but i will try that.
I'm actually think the squeIite is the problem since I did try moode using lms connected to the x86 server running so1.4 and it is running perfectly. Is there any logging can be done in squeezelite?

If Squeezelite is the problem, have your tried running LMS & Squeezelite on same box?
