I thought that the change from one player to another would not make much difference, hence my question, because I have noticed (in principle I thought it was psychological) a substantial change in music. This is why I call this project Snakeoil.. For those who never tried this, they will call it Snakeoil anyway. Because after all, the assumption is "all software players sound the same", because "bits are bits"....

In this player the differences between the files and qualities are noticed much more, if it is bad it sounds very bad, but if it is good it sounds fantastic. If you listen to a lot of well recorded classical music, or some Jazz. Then MPD will be ideal.. You can feel the impact as they come fast, sharp, sweet and most importantly natural. OTOTH, if one likes Justin Bieber... then MPD is clearly not the right player
Squeezelite is much flatter, treats music more equally, and more relaxed.

The better the system, the smaller the number of music you actually get to enjoy on it. LMS+Squeezelite masks some of the flaws, but still provide a reasonable quality for me to enjoy music. For me this is the right balance.
Likewise, you have to tinker, and find the balance that best suits you.
