I have now tried to install SnakeoilOS twice on two different ubutnu based machines with the same response. I am not sure what i am missing.
first device was dual boot so after reading i get it, does not work. When i boot to the ubuntu drive i just get a text login which i can log into but nothing else.
other device was just normal ubutnu (both at current versions) and that also just takes me to a text login, which i can log into but nothing else.
I am not sure if i am missing a step.
EDIT: Since the ubutnu login still works is there a way to get ubuntu os working again? i learned i can use startx to start the gui. Now to just figure out how to ger snakeoilos to work.
I have been able to get Moode to work on a rpi and then was looking to try snakeoil but it seems i am missing something.

Welcome to Snakeoil Oil. Look, I think you didn't miss a step, but need a step forward.
Now you open a we browser in another PC/Tablet/Smart Phone, and then enter the ip address (or snakeoil.local) of the machine you've installed Snakeoil OS, then you'll see the webui. Snakeoil OS machine is designed to be an headless, backend music server, as both the gui and monitor connection are big noise sources.
I've tried Moode, the GUI is nice and convenient. For SnakeOil OS, it's a server platform, the backend. The user installs and uses the preferred music server, e.g. MPD (Best Best Sound), LMS (Best supported music server), in Snakeoil OS. And then user controls/setup and play music on the frontend, with corresponding client software.

Refer to the reference section in this website, particularly this chapter ( https://www.snakeoil-os.net/reference/in...il_package). I will update that chapter to make it more obvious to use the computer.
Technically I can also create a text frontend for folks to configure. If folks want something like this please submit a feature request in the forums.. Problem with this is one extra process running (on top of the API), and also the requirements for running a console application can negatively affect the RT nature of the OS if you're using a RT kernel.

Hi, AK, may I suggest to drop this idea, unless it can be uninstalled? As Sound Quality is my Top priority and only concern.

It will be an optional thing.. For me personally i disable console entirely. But yeah, will only start working on this if people raise a request. As it is there are still too many things to do right now.
