Introduction
This is the second release candidate and hopefully last test version of Snakeoil High-End.

How To Install

• Please uninstall LogitechMediaServer before installing Lyrion Music Server.
  
• Lyrion Music Server will not work on Arm64 Ubuntu 24.04. This looks like a known issue.
  
• Run this command to install Snakeoil: sudo apt install /path/to/downloaded_debian_file

I have tested RC2 now and I can confirm that the following works (for me):
- Fix missing grub.template file [#158] =
- Fix bug where JRiver install/uninstall options are not showing up in Snakeoil->Software [#160] =

However the following does not work:
- Fix problem where there are 2 NFS options in mount - One of them have to be NTFS [#159] = there are still 2 NFS options in mount.

It's likely because of cached entries. Do a force-reload of the browser to clear the cache and it should pick up the change again.

Happy New Year!   A thorough RC2 test on Pi5 Ubuntu 24.04

1. Remove true type font and no need for additional input during install. I think you were planning to do this a while ago but it was going to be a big change?
   
2. Dashboard still showing RC1. Dashboard Network tab "coming soon"
   
3. Error message at end of install: N: Download is performed unsandboxed as root as file '/home/cs/snakeoil-1.4.0-rc-2-ubuntu_noble_arm64.deb' couldn't be accessed by user '_apt'. - pkgAcquire::Run (13: Permission denied).   Same message when I tried installing LMS9 manually previously.  But does not affect install
   
4. Network Tab.  Showing Wlan0 DHCP, when it is disabled.  Eth0 enabled with proper ip address but display not showing DHCP.  Cannot change.
   
5. After SO config restore, File uploaded. Press OK to begin basic configuration restore.  Button is showing System.  This error has been there for a long time, never bothered to report!
   
6. Still requiring manual upload of NFS folders after reboot.  Tried changing service to "Requires", which resulted in long boot time but did not fix problem.
   
7. On Available Music Software (Basic), selecting Logitech Media Server + Sueezelite does not load LMS.  This is important for unactivated users. And when trying to install in System/software

16. Had to run sudo apt-get update to redo SO install. Does not happen all the time I believe Ubuntu updates in the background after initial install and if installing SO too early, will get error message.
    

While I no longer run UPnP because of the security risk, I know some people will use MinimServer and Upmpdcli.  I also do not use Roon, Jriver, HQPlayer NAA and Mympd, but tested install process.

Yeah, as mentioned before this is a "notice" not an "error". Ignore this for now, here's hoping once Snakeoil can be installed via a apt repository this notice will automatically go away.

This is normal. You can't change ethernet settings from the network tab yet. Hopefully will address this in the future.

Can you show me a screencap of your NFS configuration? This is really unusual and shouldn't be happening.

All these works for me. Please double check if /media/snakeoil_cache folder exists, and if yes double check your networking setup.

Bookworm (as well as other distros) will be supported in the future. That's the point of moving to deb packaging. Just going to support noble for the initial 1.4.0 release for now, with more to be added in later releases.

Looks like a new install will be missing snakeoil_cache. In RC-3, just going to create the folder /media/snakeoil_cache if it doesn't exist, this should fix new installation issues.

Really need to do some proper unit testing in Snakeoil.. I guess gonna add this to the list of things to do.

What do you mean by this?

During the install process, there are 2 pop ups (pink buttons). These are for true type fonts. I recall you mentioning that you will take them out in the future? It would make the install cleaner if the pop ups were removed. This is a nice to have.

This is normal. You can't change ethernet settings from the network tab yet. Hopefully will address this in the future.

The Pi5 display is wrong. Eth0 is enabled, Wlan0 disabled. Yet on right side Wlan0 is set to DHCP

Can you show me a screencap of your NFS configuration? This is really unusual and shouldn't be happening.

2 nfs4 folders manually mounted.  Have tried mounting them as nfs3 folders.  Same problem, need to mount them manually on rebooting.


Synology DSM NFS setup screen.  Max NFS protocol can be NFS3, NFS4 or NFS4.1

 
NFS permissions for each Ip address (blanked out on screenshot). Have even tried "allow connections from non-privileged port.

Note that Synology does not allow SSH access, login to Linux.


Have also tried mounting SMB (CIFS) folders within SnakeOil.  Same problem of having to manually mount them on rebooting.
