It's all system dependent.. FWIW With redbook music I'm getting better audio quality via S/PDIF compared to USB 2.0.

I2S in theory is better, but then in my setup  USB (balanced) when compared to S/PDIF (Unbalanced). At the end of the day, it all brings down to personal and music preference.
