Question to the author: Does Snakoil support the Intel 82574L chip ??
Having said that, I have never tried this desktop chip (CT) myself so have no experience with it
I'm using the server version (PT 82572). As a matter of fact I have one of each - 1 port, 2 port and 4 ports.
Used them at various stages and they all work well when I was experimenting with LAGG for musici playback. At the moment the the 1 port is used for my HTPC, the 2 port is used for my NAS (N54L), and the four port is not used any more (I replaced that with the newer 4 port i210 for my home lab)..
These cards are fast when it comes to transfer speed. And they are relatively cheap. The only downside is higher power consumption (but not by much).
Here's a link of the single port version: Link. A pound more expensive. Get this if you can.
And my apologies. I totally forgot about releasing a new kernel with Tigon 3 NIC. Been real busy lately. Once I have something I'd post it up in the kernel forums. As mentioned previously, I hope to automate this kernel process. In future folks can just go to a web page, click a few buttons, and wait for an email to download the kernel.
The idea is there, and should be relatively straightforward to implement. However, there's little point in me doing this when there's not enough people using Snakeoil OS (or require a custom build).. Yeah I know it's a chicken and egg problem...
