Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - hkphantomgtr - 21-Mar-2025 Hi, pals. Look, would you please tell me what's your latest, best, and successful way to let Spotify to play music thru MPD in Snakeoil OS, e.g. Spotify Connect? As I did not using Spotify at all, I'm just helping an old friend. So please excuse this silly help request. Any help will be much appreciated. ![]() RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - Snoopy8 - 21-Mar-2025 Suggest using LMS plugins to connect streaming services like Spotify. It is one of the reasons why I switched from Mpd to LMS. RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - hkphantomgtr - 25-Mar-2025 Hey, pals, would you please tell me in which folder I can find the spotifyd.conf or spotify.conf? Any help will be highly appreciated. ![]() RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - Snoopy8 - 25-Mar-2025 LMS uses a plugin to connect to Spotify. After adding the plugin, there should be a separate web page to configure the Spotify login, password and parameters..There is no need to edit any files. Perhaps these may help? https://forums.lyrion.org/forum/user-forums/logitech-media-server/1708807-setting-up-a-spotify-account https://github.com/michaelherger/Spotty-Plugin RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - hkphantomgtr - 25-Mar-2025 (25-Mar-2025, 04:49 AM)Snoopy8 Wrote: LMS uses a plugin to connect to Spotify. I would like to keep using mpd as far as I can. Because the user (my old friend) may not feel ease to adapt. Without music streaming, Mpd may become a fringe music player? In contrast, there is an active community that develops and supports LMS, taking feedback from the user forum. Material Skin is a good interface. Streaming plugins allow a user to easily navigate between local music and online music. RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - hkphantomgtr - 25-Mar-2025 Seems you're implying "Spotify Connect" in Snakeoil Software tab can be removed. ![]() RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - Snoopy8 - 25-Mar-2025 (25-Mar-2025, 02:03 PM)hkphantomgtr Wrote: Seems you're implying "Spotify Connect" in Snakeoil Software tab can be removed. Don't use Spotify. Not sure if anyone on SO has used it? Still believe LMS provides a more comprehensive solution for most music streaming services. Also no need for AK to support individual streaming music players. RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - Snoopy8 - 16-Apr-2025 (21-Mar-2025, 12:21 AM)hkphantomgtr Wrote: Hi, pals. LMS does a good job of integrating music streaming services. My Wiki screenshots use Qobuz, but functionality with Spotify should be the same (I don't have Spotify). MPD does not support music streaming services. In the Wiki, I have suggested using upmpdcli. upmpdcli is installed together with MPD and both are accessible. Your friend can continue to use MPD for local music, but can switch to upmpdcli for music streaming services. Spotify Connect did not migrate to 1.4.3 and there are no plans to do so. If your friend wants to install Spotify Connect, there are a couple of Linux options at the end of the Wiki article, but not supported by us. However, he will still need to switch between MPD for local music and Spotify Connect for music streaming services. LMS provides seamless switching between local music and Spotify. On this basis, LMS is a better option. RE: Connecting Spotify to SnakeOil - hkphantomgtr - 16-Apr-2025 (16-Apr-2025, 10:17 AM)Snoopy8 Wrote:(21-Mar-2025, 12:21 AM)hkphantomgtr Wrote: Hi, pals. Despite LMS is much more convenient and eye catching than mpd, the difference in sound is quite clear. My friend and I still prefer the sound of MPD. he'll switch to LMS only when he wants to listen Spotify on his system. And in most of the time he keeps using mpd. |
