Should Cloud-Init be removed from SnakeOil? - Snoopy8 - 14-Jul-2021 Getting messages about Cloud-Init on the terminal after boot. Disabled it by creating an empty file using this command: sudo touch /etc/cloud/cloud-init.disabled. Should I go further and remove Cloud-Init? https://blog.rylander.io/2020/12/23/how-to-remove-cloud-init-from-ubuntu-server-20-04/ RE: Should Cloud-Init be removed from SnakeOil? - agent_kith - 14-Jul-2021 Hmm. Unsure to be honest, reading what it's supposed to be doing quickly, I think this service is only used during startup (or during a new install)... Might be useful if you want to install a fresh OS and pull down some default settings? Is that what this is for? I guess easiest thing to do is to check if any active process of this is running, if yes then yeah, disable it. I will check this later in the week to investigate more. And if so allow the option to disable this. There's probably other services that can be disabled safely too. Hopefully the new UI will have something to do this. |
