Fyi, rpi-update updates Pi firmware.  And in my pi 5 case, interestingly, such update almost comes weekly.
rpi-eeprom updates something about booting.  This command exits in Ubuntu natively.
RPi-update appears to be a shell script. What happens if you just copies that file from a RaspOS and try to run it in Ubuntu? I might try that one day if you havn't done so yet.

Thanks a lot, AK.  After I dug more today, I found we are advised not to use it, as it will use the beta version firmware.  Just use "apt update" "apt upgrade" and etc will be good enough.  So I think it's time to let it go.

Using Beta is good. I have to stick to that and encourage everybody to use beta software as that is currently the only means for me to test Snakeoil. [Image: big_eye.gif] It will be a while before I can put in a full suite of automatic tests for Snakeoil... It's just easier to release software in beta form, and wait for bugs to be reported, and fixed.

I'm sure the Raspberry developers feel the same way.... [Image: embarrassed2.gif]

Took much longer than planned, but here it is. When you attach your Snakeoil PC to your Pro subscription:

Once this is done you should see the real time kernel appearing in your list. For now I am going to use the generic kernel if you're on intel/amd systems, and not the 12 gen specific. If you're on the Pi then you'll be using the raspberry variant.

And when detaching:

For some reason I cannot get the console to display while the applications are running (attaching a Pro can take a long time), and you will not see any output until the program exits. Will continue to try and see if I can fix that in the future.

Note also the kernel is still selectable when you detach. It's always best to switch to a non-rt kernel when you detach just in case.

This is not released yet, will release an alpha once I have complete more tickets. so stay tuned.

I notice you say Snakeoil PC. Is this only for x86, or will it work with Raspberry Pi?

This will also work with Raspberry Pi.

As mentioned above - right now Snakeoil will install the "generic" variant of the kernel if you're on intel/amd, and the Pi variant if you're using Raspberry Pi. Yet to try this on my test Pi though.

For now not going to do enable the gen12 Intel variant of the kernel. This might come in the future (Will need somebody with a Gen 12 core setup so I can pull some information). I'm running everything AMD at home except for the Snakeoil PC which is Intel (but not gen 12).

Thank you, AK.

I'll try it ASAP on my RPi 5, but I've just borked my LMS, so I'll need to fix that first.  Tongue

All fixed. Thanks to @hkphantomgtr for suggesting I don't install SO on the NVMe drive  Cool

You're welcome, pal.  If you can get there ocxo clock mod. on your pi5, like mine, then your every effort and sweat is so much rewarded.

I've successfully associated my Ubuntu Pro subscription and I'm now running the realtime kernel.
