The most difficult bits about compiling the code is done. Just have to finish up the installer. I have 3x Pi 4's and 1x Pi 3. Will try and mix and match and get a test unit up and running so I can test the installer. RE: Snakeoil Gear Isolation Alpha Series - Valery - 12-Mar-2021 The goal is marked correctly. I use two players on 16.07 with the best settings for me: mpd-dsd and mpd 22.03. The objective technical characteristics of the sound as the auditory resolution are the same, but the presentation and subjective perception of the musical work are different... We will wait! It will be this weekend when I can get to buy more micro-sd cards. No point doing mail ordering now as shipping will take as long (and it may get lost). So, until then, I'll work on cpuset for Ubuntu 20.04 and see what is wrong. PS: 6th day at work now, not fired yet, so hope all is good. ![]() ![]() RE: Snakeoil Gear Isolation Alpha Series - agent_kith - 28-Mar-2021 Raspberry PI installer works well.. Still some issues with web app when using LMS and Squeezelite.. Unsure why that is the case but doubt I have the time left to trouble shoot that. Will release the first alpha once I get this bug and also cpuset for 20.04 fixed. RE: Snakeoil Gear Isolation Alpha Series - Snoopy8 - 31-Mar-2021 Running 1.2 Alpha4 on 20.04, Intel NUC 5I8BEH. TOP has been showing very low numbers, at times, it showed zero. Yes, the NUC is quite powerful, but I suspect the TOP numbers are misleading. ![]() RE: Snakeoil Gear Isolation Alpha Series - agent_kith - 02-Apr-2021 (31-Mar-2021, 07:32 PM)Snoopy8 Wrote: Running 1.2 Alpha4 on 20.04, Intel NUC 5I8BEH. And yes, it can be misleading. Just because the OS is not under load does not imply things are running in "real time". In real time, when a process demands the CPU, the OS will immediately drop everything and give it access. A very low load system is more likely to do this, but a RT kernel will gurantee it. So for a normal kernel like the stock kernel, the idea is to reduce the number of running processes. But with a RT kernel, you don't really have to do that any more. As to which sounds better, it's trial and error and system dependent. This is really alchemy than science to be honest. If you ssh to the computer, you can run htop. That gives you a instant view on how loaded the system is. It was about 0.6 to 1 with 16.04/1.1.11 and have dropped dramatically with 20.04/1.2 Alpha. With such low numbers, I am speculating that enabling CPUSet will not make much difference to the SQ? Also fixed some bugs.. Will try and upload the two installers tomorrow if I can.. Hope you guys can stay safe in Easter. ![]() RE: Snakeoil Gear Isolation Alpha Series - Snoopy8 - 02-Apr-2021 (02-Apr-2021, 07:25 PM)agent_kith Wrote: BTW, can you run this and see if cpuset is now working (It is working for me in my test setup, but will be nice if a second party can confirm it)Confirm CPUSet is now working! ![]() Played around with enabling/disabling. Not sure why, but sometimes had to select/unselect one of the CPUs before it worked. It was the same in 16.04/1.1.11 but I did not report it previously. And the surprise was it improved things with Mpd 0.22.3, cleaned up the sound! ![]() |
